God has given each of us gifts and talents that we are meant to share with our congregation, community, and world. Holy Cross thrives as a congregation because of the committed leadership of its members. To effectively do Weekend Worship, Faith Development, and Confirmation we need well over 100 volunteers which doesn’t include our choirs. We encourage people of all ages to participate! If you are at a time in your life that makes volunteering difficult, we encourage you to sign up for the prayer chain or pray the prayers in the homebound mailings.
As Holy Cross moves from a staff-centered congregation to a lay-empowered congregation, it is essential to keep in mind our Strategic Planning goals (Ministry Result Areas): “Widen and Deepen our Commitment to Service, Participation over Observation, Expand our Welcome, and Foster Community & Belonging”. In light of this, we offer the following challenge:
- Choose one Holy Work opportunity
- Choose one Ministry Experience which may take you out of your comfort zone or is a passion for helping others. For example, helping others through quilting, bringing home communion, serving at Hephatha, being a Confirmation Small Group leader, being trained to work with staff in the sound room, or making sure the church is locked up at night.
- Let us know of your special gift or talent, for example, sewing, plumbing, IT, carpentry, or providing a vehicle to transport furniture to partner families.
Everyone has a gift and a part to play in doing God’s ministry carried out here at Holy Cross.
