Holy Cross is a regional congregation, welcoming members and visitors from throughout the area. These communities include Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Richfield, Hubertus, Colgate, Lisbon, Sussex, Brookfield, Elm Grove, Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Butler, and Brown Deer. We are members of the Greater Milwaukee Synod, consisting of 120 churches and 73,000 baptized members.
Holy Cross is a multigenerational congregation with people of all ages! This is reflected in activities, ministries, and opportunities for every age group.
Holy Cross is a welcoming congregation. We welcome God’s children of all backgrounds, circumstances, and identities, to be fully known and loved. We have folks who are lifelong residents of the area and some have moved into our communities from around the country. Those new to the area have often found some of their new “best friends” through worship, fellowship, and service opportunities. All are welcome here.
Holy Cross is a growing congregation. Although this time of pandemic has been a challenge. We have over 1,500 members and are one of the over 8,894 congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Holy Cross is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA is a faith tradition that is open to all, regardless of background. It is over three million members strong, with congregations across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Holy Cross is a missional congregation:
- We are proud to be part of the ELCA; a global church committed to growing in diversity and strengthening its global, ecumenical, and interfaith relationships worldwide.
- We are also committed to growing in diversity through intentional conversations, welcoming the LGBTQIA+ community, and unlearning racism.
- Holy Cross is partnered with two center city congregations in Milwaukee, All Peoples and Hephatha Lutheran congregations. We are also connected globally through the Meru Diocese of Tanzania and even more closely with the Seela Parish of that diocese. We also have a global partnership with Manantiales del Desierto (Springs in the Desert), a Lutheran church in El Salvador.
- Holy Cross is a strong supporter of our Menomonee Falls Food Pantry, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, Luther Manor, Eras Senior Network, Community Smiles Dental, Outreach For Hope, NAMI, Just One More Ministry, and many other ministries.
Mostly, we are a place for all to enjoy fellowship, community, and worship.
