Women’s Retreat Recap 2024
Holy Cross’s Annual Women’s Retreat was nothing short of rejuvenating and enlightening. The theme was self-care. Over the weekend, attendees were immersed in a journey of self-care and empowerment, a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. One of the key takeaways was the importance of prioritizing self-care without guilt, a message that resonated deeply with many busy women who often neglect their own needs in the pursuit of caring for others.
The retreat offered a variety of activities aimed at promoting relaxation and mindfulness. From soothing breathing exercises to gentle chair yoga sessions, participants were guided through practices designed to center the mind and body. Additionally, craft time provided a creative outlet for attendees to express themselves and further explore the theme of self-care. Making necklaces, applying spiritual temporary tattoos, and coloring inspirational pictures were tangible reminders of the retreat’s teachings.
Perhaps the most profound moments came during the small group discussions, where women came together to reflect on their experiences and insights. Each group was tasked with crafting a statement and accompanying drawing that encapsulated their collective understanding of empowering women and prioritizing self-care. These collaborative efforts fostered a sense of camaraderie and solidarity, reinforcing the idea that together, women can support and uplift one another on their journey toward self-discovery and well-being.
This time together was a sanctuary for self-discovery and relaxation and a hub for building connections and community. Among the attendees were many women from Hephatha, our partner church in Milwaukee. As a gesture of appreciation and hospitality, these women were treated to free massages.
The presence of the Hephatha women served as a reminder of the power connection. Through meaningful conversations and shared activities, bonds were forged, and relationships strengthened. What began many years ago as separate communities continues to merge into a unified collective, where individuals from different backgrounds and walks of life find common ground through faith and sharing experiences.
As the retreat drew to a close, it was evident that by coming together as women, they not only enriched their own lives but also enriched the fabric of their communities, demonstrating the transformative power of faith.
