Congregational Caring

3 “C’s” are at the heart of Holy Cross!

CARING

COMMUNITY

CHRIST

Holy Cross’ vision of ministry includes what we do in response to the needs of our own congregation, our city, and the wider community! It is about allowing faith to be active in love. It is about loving your neighbor as yourself. It is about being Christ’s hands in a world that sometimes hurts.

Caring Companions

People who reach out to the homebound and hospitalized by making friendly visits and bringing them Holy Communion.

Healing services

Prayers of healing are offered during worship services on the third weekend of the month during Holy Communion.  During this time, a Pastor will pray for your individual request. Private counseling can be arranged by appointment with Pastor Meredith.

Prayers of the people

During worship services prayers are offered up for celebrations, struggles, and sympathies.

card ministry

Cards are sent for moments of grief, illness, hospitalization, births, and senior birthdays.

Hospitality

Our Kitchen Angels are a ‘welcoming’ group that blesses post-worship times with fellowship that includes coffee and treats, cares for a grieving family with a meal, and pitches in with good old-fashioned hospitality during many church events.

BEYOND OUR WALLS

Mr. and Mrs. shivers

Handmade or purchased donations of hats, mittens, and scarfs are collected for our partnership churches Hephatha and All Peoples Lutheran Churches.  Donations are collected in the Mr. and Mrs. Shivers collection box.  The box is located in the coat closet near the southeast entry doors.

Holy Cross is a church that cares, but we need YOUR help!  The caring ministries at Holy Cross depend on people who are willing to be called upon to be involved in loving service to those in need. If you would like to become involved, have questions, or would like to explore your growing commitment to discipleship, contact:
